Working Hours

Employees can work up to 40 hours per week. This is reduced to 24 hours for those aged 14-15 and 36 hours for those aged 16-18. It may also be reduced for employees engaged in heavy manual or hazardous work.

Minimum Wage

KZT 70,000 per month.

Employee Tax

Tax rate	10%

Bonuses

There are no statutory bonus schemes in Kazakhstan.

Employment contracts in Kazakhstan must be written. All contracts should include:

• Work conditions
• Employee and employer rights, obligations, and liabilities

Fixed-term contracts are permitted, but should generally last no less than one year.

Annual Leave

Minimum of 24 days’ paid holiday per year.

Sick Leave

Employees can take up to two months of paid sick leave.

Parental Leave

• Maternity leave: at least 126 days' paid leave.
• Paternity leave: none.

Termination Process

Employers in Kazakhstan can terminate a contract, provided they give notice in line with legal requirements. The amount of notice required depends on the reason for termination.

Grounds for termination include:

• Mutual consent
• Misconduct
• Extended unauthorised absence
• Fixed contract expiry

Employees can also terminate the contract by giving at least one month’s notice.

Severance Pay

Severance pay is only issued in limited circumstances. Eligible employees are entitled to two average monthly salaries.
