In St. Lucia, the standard workweek is 40 hours.

Minimum Wage

The minimum wage is currently EC$1,130 monthly, EC$52 daily, and EC$6.52 hourly.

Bonuses

There are no statutory bonus schemes in St. Lucia.

Annual Leave

In St. Lucia, annual leave is calculated based on length of service:

• 14 working days for employment period of up to five (5) years.
• 21 working days for employment exceeding five (5) years.

Sick Leave

The employer pays up to three sick days, provided a doctor's note is submitted.

Parental Leave

St. Lucia offers 13 weeks of maternity leave, at least six weeks of which must be taken before birth and at least six weeks after birth. Five days of paternity leave are offered.

Termination Process

In St. Lucia, a contract may be terminated without notice if the employee is guilty of serious misconduct.

An indefinite contract may be terminated with the following notice periods given in writing:

• 12 weeks – 2 years: 1 weeks’ notice
• 2 – 5 years: 2 weeks’ notice
• 5 – 10 years: 4 weeks’ notice
• 10+ years: 6 weeks’ notice

If the employee is being made redundant and has been employed for more than two years, they are entitled to one week's pay for each year of service up to the first three years. This rises to two weeks’ pay for each year of service between three and seven years, then three weeks’ pay for each year of service above seven years.

Severance Pay

In St. Lucia, severance pay is calculated based on length of service:

• 1-3 years: one week’s pay
• 3-7 years: two weeks’ pay
• 7+ years: three weeks’ pay
