Yoga with Teresa Lewis
9.15am - 10.15am Wednesday 27th January 2021
Teresa is a qualified yoga instructor and will be hosting a FREE Iyengar Yoga class on Wednesdays at 9:15am (GMT) on Zoom for anyone who wants to join. Iyengar Yoga focuses on precision and alignment with the use of props and it is a safe way of practicing. The class will be held on Zoom.
Please email Teresa at teresa.lewis@mauvegroup.com to request the Zoom meeting link.
A few things to consider before the class:
Beginners are welcome – If you have never done any yoga before or very little then please go at your own pace. Don’t worry if you have to come out of a pose and rest a little before joining back in. If anyone has a specific injury or medical condition, please email Teresa before the class – it could mean that you have to adapt something or sit something out but there is no reason why everyone can’t join in and do most of the sequence.
Things to wear/ bring:
Wear clothing that is comfortable for you to move freely in such as leggings or shorts and a t shirt. Tie hair back. If you have a yoga mat then that is brilliant. If not, then you will need to use the floor, wooden is probably best if you have it but avoid putting a towel down as it will probably be more of a hindrance than a help. For each class you may need one or all of the following, so please have these handy:
- a strap – a yoga belt or a tie, the tie from a dressing gown or even a rolled up towel
- a chair
- a cushion or two – or a few folded blankets – to have underneath you when we are seated
Please see this link to give you an idea of how yoga props can be adapted when you are in a home environment: The Yoga Space
The class:
Teresa will open up the meeting around 10 – 15 mins beforehand so that people can say hello, set their device up so Teresa is able to see them and gather any props that will be used. Everyone will be asked to MUTE their audio once the practice begins. Everyone should set their Zoom to SPEAKER VIEW: this means that Teresa’s picture will appear as a Large image on your screen. Teresa will have everyone in gallery view and will try to give instructions based on what she can see, but it really depends how well people have their cameras set up and just how many people are attending the class.
Here is Teresa’s message on what to expect and bring:
“I am really looking forward to giving the class every week – it is a way for us all to stay connected and to look after our health and emotional well-being in these very uncertain times that we have all been thrown into. I will be conducting the class from my living room so I can’t promise you there won’t be the odd interruption here and there from my five year old but I am sure many of us are in the same boat here with people and animals that we live with. This is not the time for people to be injuring themselves so please be aware of your own limitations. I look forward to seeing you all in your homes every Tuesday around 8.45am!”
