Working Hours

Employees can work up to eight hours a day, or 48 hours per week.

Minimum Wage

LRD 5,600 per month for skilled workers, or LRD 15 per hour for unskilled workers.

Bonuses

There are no statutory bonus schemes in Liberia.

All employment contracts must including the following information:

• Employer and employee details
• Job title and responsibilities
• Workplace
• Contract length (if applicable)
• Notice period for termination
• Salary
• Employee welfare measures
• Any special conditions

Indefinite, fixed-term, and task-specific contracts are permitted in Liberia.

Annual Leave

Minimum of one week’s paid holiday during the first year of service, rising to two weeks after one year, three weeks after three years, and four weeks after five years.

Sick Leave

Ten days' paid sick leave each year. A medical certificate must be provided to claim payment.

Parental Leave

• Maternity leave: at least 14 weeks' paid leave.
• Paternity leave: five days' unpaid leave.

Termination Process

Employers in Liberia can terminate a contract, provided they give notice and/or compensation in line with legal requirements.

Grounds for termination include:

• Redundancy
• Serious misconduct
• Operational requirements

Severance Pay

Employees are entitled to four weeks' severance pay for each year of service if they are made redundant.
