Annual Leave
An employee’s annual leave entitlement depends on their length of service:
- 1 year: 7 days
- 2 years: 8 days
- 3 years: 9 days
- 4 years: 10 days
- 5 years: 11 days
- 6 years: 12 days
- 7 years: 13 days
- 8 years+: 14 days
Sick Leave
Sick leave allowance is determined by length of service:
- 3 months of service: 5 days of non-hospitalisation leave and 15 days of hospitalisation leave.
- 4 months of service: 8 days of non-hospitalisation leave and 30 days of hospitalisation leave.
- 5 months of service: 11 days of non-hospitalisation leave and 45 days of hospitalisation leave.
- 6 months of service: 14 days of non-hospitalisation leave and 60 days of hospitalisation leave.
- Over 6 months of service: 14 days of non-hospitalisation leave and 60 days of hospitalisation leave.
Parental Leave
Maternity leave: a female employee is entitled to up to 16 weeks of paid statutory maternity leave, if her child is a Singaporean citizen and she has served her employer for at least three months. If this criteria is not fulfilled, she is still entitled to 12 weeks of leave. Eight weeks are paid if she is covered under the Employment Act and has been working for her employer for three months.
If neither set of criteria is fulfilled, she is not entitled to any paid statutory maternity leave.
Paternity leave: effective 1st April 2025, eligible fathers are entitled to four (4) weeks paternity leave paid by the government.
Parental leave: effective 1st April 2025, eligible parents are entitled to six (6) weeks of shared parental leave (SPL) to be shared between the parents. SPL is paid by the government. From 1st April 2026, SPL will increase to ten (10) weeks.
