Annual Leave
Employees in Ireland are entitled to four working weeks of leave per year in which they work at least 1,365 hours, or one-third of a working week for each month in which they work at least 117 hours.
Sick Leave
Since 1 January 2024, eligible employees are entitled to receive up to five (5) days of sick pay from their employer per calendar year. This statutory sick pay is set at 70% of normal pay, up to a cap of €110 a day. Employees must have at least 13 weeks' service with their employer in order to be eligible for statutory sick pay, and they must be certified by a GP as unable to work on the days concerned. Entitlement to statutory sick pay starts on the first day of a period of absence and employers cannot impose "waiting days" before paying statutory sick pay.
Annual entitlement to statutory sick pay was scheduled to increase to seven (7) days in 2025 and ten (10) days in 2026. However, in January 2025 the Government announced that the increase has been postponed pending a review of evidence on the operation of the scheme.

Paternity leave: Employees are entitled to two week's leave.
Parental leave: Parents are entitled to take up to 26 weeks of unpaid parental leave for each child under 12 years' old.
