Annual Leave
Most employees in Slovenia are entitled to four weeks of annual leave per year.
Workers above the age of 55, disabled workers, and caretakers are entitled to at least three additional days of annual leave. Employees with children under the age of 15 are entitled to an extra day of leave.
One portion of annual leave must be taken as a two-week break.
Sick Leave
Workers are entitled to 80% of their salary or wage when they are on sick leave.
In the event of an occupational illness or injury related to work, they are entitled to receive their normal salary payment, calculated as an average of their salary over the previous three months. There is no time limit for this. The worker will receive the payment until they are deemed permanently disabled and their employment contract is terminated as a result.
Salary compensation for absence from work lasting up to 30 workdays is paid by the employer from their own funds. Salary compensation paid for longer than 30 days is refunded by the state.
Parental Leave
Slovenia offers maternity leave of 105 days.
To receive paid maternity leave, an employee must have been insured a day prior to the leave, or the contributions to parental protection insurance must have been made for a period of at least 12 months in the three years prior to claiming the leave.
The amount of paid maternity leave is calculated based on the employee's salary, though it must be at least 55% of the minimum net monthly wage.
Paternity leave of 30 days is offered on the same conditions as maternity leave.
