What is Mauve Group up to during Wales Week London 2024?

There’s less than one week to go until Mauve Group’s Wales Week London event, co-hosted with Welsh Athletics and Commonwealth.

Game Changers: An Evening of Welsh Sport and Business takes place on Tuesday 27th February, and will see top former Welsh paralympic athletes Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Christian Malcolm, and Aled Siôn Davies OBE discussing the importance of ED&I. The panel will then open the floor to an audience Q&A session.

Also present on the night will be Welsh leaders, Team Wales CEO Rebecca Edwards-Symmons; Welsh Athletics CEO James Williams; and Mauve Group CEO Ann Ellis. Together, they’ll be sharing how Welsh sport and business are leading the way towards a more inclusive future for everyone.

What businesses are supporting the ED&I-focused event?

Supporting the evening are a number of exciting Welsh businesses. Food and drink will be supplied by…

Tidy Kitchen Company

Tidy Kitchen Co was born out of a passion and desire to see more varied, high quality food options on the go. Founder Laura Willett spent nearly eight years working as a private chef, both on super yachts and in private homes, and trained at London’s Leiths School of Food and Wine; before settling back in Wales close to family and friends.

Per its website, “Tiny Kitchen aims to create a welcoming, all-encompassing food haven for both plant-based eaters and responsibly sourced meat and fish eaters too. Tidy Kitchen wants to be somewhere people turn in order to fuel their whole day from energising breakfast oats and fresh press juices, to nourishing salad bowls and wraps, to takeaway evening meals and time-saving hacks.”

Tiny Rebel

Tiny Rebel is an award-winning brewery from Newport, South Wales. The brand is the youngest and only Welsh brewery to win ‘Champion Beer of Britain’ – plus, the only brewery to have won gold, silver, and bronze in the ‘Champion Beer of Wales competition’ (in its first year of trading!), as well as the only brewery to defend a gold the following year.

The team won awards for the SIBA ‘Brewery Business of the Year’ and ‘International Beer Challenge UK Brewer of the Year’ 2016.

In the Welsh Wind

Based five miles north of Cardigan, in a former pub, In the Welsh Wind specialises in creating bespoke spirits tailored to you in their copper pot stills Meredith and Afanc, and their state-of-the-art 5,000-litre whisky still.

Every spirit the team creates is unique owing to the small batch and individual approach.

In the Welsh Wind produces and sells its own, award-winning In the Welsh Wind and Eccentric Spirits ranges. The distillery is the only of its kind in Wales to be producing a 100% grain-to-glass single malt Welsh whisky, crafted from locally grown grain which is malted, distilled, and matured on site.

In the Welsh Wind is also kindly providing samples for our goodie bags! Along with…

Burn’s Pet Food

Founded by veterinary surgeon John Burns who first conceived the idea in the 1980s, Burns pet food aims to provide healthy pet food modelled on a homecooked diet. Following ten years of hard work, determination, and perseverance, the UK’s first natural pet food company was born.

Owing to the success of the business in 2007, John launched his own charity: The Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation. Prior to this, Burns had already been dishing out generous donations but the charity status formalised John’s vision to improve the lives of people and pets across the UK.

In 2018, Burns celebrated 25 years of trading, and 25 years of feeding healthy and happy pets. The brand also decided to donate 25% of its profits to charity. John remains at the helm of the business and comes to work every day.

Burns’ focus remains on campaigning for positive change in the pet food industry; be it through its charity, nutritional education, or award-winning products.

Burns’ products are on the shelves at over 6,000 stockists. The brand exports pet food globally, employing over 140 people across the UK and the Republic of Ireland, as well as eight members staff who work for John Burns Foundation.

Penderyn

Penderyn produces award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits at its distillery on the foothills of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, Wales, UK. The premium whiskey brand also operates two other distilleries in Llandudno and Swansea.

Distilling in Wales was a lost art. But in the late 1990s, a group of friends decided to establish the first whisky distillery in Wales in over a century. They dreamt of creating a whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold, represented today by Penderyn’s ‘gold seam’. The village of Penderyn was chosen because of the site’s own supply of fresh natural spring water.

A unique copper single-pot still designed by Dr David Faraday, a relative of the great 19th-century scientist Michael Faraday, was installed in 2000, which produces a spirit at an industry high draw of 92% – meaning Penderyn's whiskies are light, fruity, and flavoursome.

Penderyn Whisky has quickly gained a worldwide reputation for its range of whiskies, winning over 100 Double Gold/Gold/Masters awards enroute. Today, Penderyn is now very much part of the world whisky conversation, and is available in over 50 countries, including key markets in France, Germany, USA, and China.

Game Changers will be held in St. Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, one of London’s stunning medieval churches. The event is now sold out.

Mauve Group - whose founder Ann Ellis hails from Denbigh, North Wales - operates a Welsh arm: Mauve Cymru, which is working to bring Welsh business to the global stage. If you’re a Welsh business seeking to expand, contact our team today.
