Mauve Group marks 30 years, outlasting 88% of businesses
Mauve Group reaches 30 years in business, outperforming 88% of companies while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth and global workforce solutions.
As Mauve Group marks 30 years enabling organisations to expand internationally, this milestone offers an opportunity not only to celebrate progress, but to reflect on the partnerships, industries, and shared journeys that have shaped the business over three decades.
Operating across borders is rarely straightforward. For many organisations, sustaining long-term growth is one of the greatest challenges of expansion. Research consistently shows that while starting a business - an achievement in itself - is relatively common, longevity is far less so.
In the UK, only around 12% of businesses survive beyond 20 years, while in the U.S., just over a third reach the 10-year mark. Globally, approximately half of new businesses cease trading within three years.
Against this backdrop, long-term partnerships take on even greater significance.
From telecoms problem to global HR solution
Reflecting on the origins and growth of Mauve Group is Ann Ellis, CEO and Co-founder:
The seed that sprouted Mauve Group is the fact that John, the co-founder of Mauve, was actually a telecoms engineer and in the early 1990s, he and his colleagues needed support with making sure they were compliant in the countries where they were working.
We set out to find a solution, and the company grew from there.
From Hungary to Ivy League: client impact
Reflecting on some of our proudest moments, Ann continued:
Winning our first-ever project in Hungary, I was very proud of that!
Another milestone was signing our first contract with a university and our first contract with an NGO. More recently, we have won a number of awards – the latest being 'HR Tech Provider of the Year' at the Personnel Today Awards in 2025.
Supporting industries through change
Over the past three decades, Mauve has worked alongside organisations navigating international growth across a wide range of industries, from telecommunications and higher education to NGOs and emerging industries.
Annette Ord, Commercial Director at Mauve Group said:
Having been at Mauve for 25 of its 30 years, I’ve seen so much change and not just in our services or the markets we work in, but in the people and partnerships that have shaped our journey. What has always driven me is helping organisations expand – whether that means reaching their ambitions, finding new ways to grow , or confidently employing talent around the world.
For me, it’s about relationships – understanding what makes each client unique, finding creative solutions together, and celebrating the success that comes from true collaboration. Clients don’t just become a client – they work in partnership with us.
We also work with a fantastic network of service partners globally and are launching our channel partner/referral partnerships arm which is super exciting. As we mark three decades in business, I’m proud of the impact we’ve had and more excited than ever about what’s ahead.
Mauve’s growth: first employee insights
Reflecting on Mauve’s growth, from its founding in 1996 to operating five entities by 2001 and operating in 150 countries in 2026, is Kerry Katsapaos, Head of Marketing:
When Mauve was first established, I joined as its first employee, and I don’t think any of us could have imagined where the journey would lead. What started as a small team with a big vision has grown into a global organisation, and I’ve been fortunate to grow alongside it.
Over the years, both the business and my role have evolved in ways I never expected, and what’s kept it so interesting is that no two days have ever really been the same.
Seeing Mauve grow while still holding on to that strong sense of people and purpose has been incredibly rewarding. As we move into the next chapter, I’m excited to see how we continue to evolve and build on that foundation, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of it!
A team shaped by global experience
Mauve is one of the first “anywhere businesses", with many employees relocating while working at the company. Their first-hand experience and local market expertise provides them with a deeper understanding of the challenges clients face when expanding internationally.
Ashleigh Duncan, Business Development Executive at Mauve Group, said:
Reflecting on my time at Mauve, it’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of a company that has evolved alongside the changing world of work, helping organisations expand globally with confidence while supporting individuals to pursue opportunities across borders.
Having worked and lived in Cyprus, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand during my time at Mauve, I’ve seen first-hand how complex international expansion can be, but also how transformative it is for organisations.
What makes a difference is having the right support in place. Over the years, I’ve been proud to help clients navigate new markets, knowing that we’re not just enabling mobility, but supporting long-term growth journeys.
30 years of financial expertise at Mauve
Helen Trifillis, Finance Manager reflects on 27 years at Mauve:
From my early career in Darwin, Australia to now being based in Cyprus, it’s been incredibly rewarding to grow alongside Mauve and play a part in shaping the financial foundations that have supported its success.
After 30 years, Mauve truly feels like family.
