How Mauve's Employer of Record helped Commonwealth Sport hire across three continents

Discover how Mauve's Employer of Record (EOR) helped Commonwealth Sport hire across three continents quickly and compliantly, without establishing local entities.

Published on

The challenge

Commonwealth Sport is the organisation responsible for the direction and control of the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games. Commonwealth Sport required support to compliantly employ colleagues across three continents, where it did not have its own entities established.

A trusted global employment solutions partner with services spanning North America, Africa, and Oceania was required to help Commonwealth Sport engage its workers in line with all local requirements.

The client

Headquartered in London, Commonwealth Sport, formerly known as the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), is the international organisation responsible for the direction and control of the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games.

It's also the governing body of the Commonwealth Games Associations. Commonwealth Sport coordinates international multi-sport events across a network spanning 74 member nations and territories.

Problems faced

Commonwealth Sport wished to employ workers across three continents. However, it did not have its own in-country infrastructure in place to compliantly engage these individuals.

Commonwealth Sport required the help of a global employment solutions partner to provide global Employer of Record (EOR) services.

Partnering for success: finding a solution

When Commonwealth Sport CEO Katie Sadleir met Mauve Group CEO Ann Ellis at a Wales Week London event, they began discussing how Mauve's services could simplify Commonwealth Sport's global employment challenges.

They arranged for the Mauve team to meet with Commonwealth Sport and, together, it was agreed that Mauve's Employer of Record solution would be the best fit. Mauve's EOR service now allows Commonwealth Sport to engage workers across the globe, in complete compliance with all local employment and tax laws.

Client quote

Our values are humanity, equality, destiny, and we wanted to make sure that all of our team had a really fantastic experience working on Commonwealth Sport.

[Partnering with Mauve] helped us focus on the people, while Ann and her brilliant team focused on the process and all of the very different and challenging ways of navigating the global workplace. They’ve given huge support to us in terms of supporting our international team and helped us to put the commonwealth back into Commonwealth Sport.

We want to make sure that all the nations are represented. If you are looking to employ or diversify overseas, definitely talk to Mauve. They’re a small, passionate company, they’re all in, it’s fantastic they’re supporting Team Wales and will be there, cheering on the athletes. That really matters to us.
