Located in Northwest Africa, Morocco is the most westerly of the North African countries. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the west, the Western Sahara in the south, and the Mediterranean Sea in the north. Moroccan culture is made up of Arab, Berber, European, and other African influences. The country is also home to the Atlas Mountains, which are located along the Algerian border and average 11,000 ft in elevation. Morocco has the fifth largest economy by GDP in Africa, and has become a major player in African economic affairs.
