Working Hours

Employees can work up to 40 hours per week, usually distributed over five days.

Minimum Wage

UZS 920,000 per month.

Bonuses

There are no statutory bonus schemes in Uzbekistan.

Employment contracts in Uzbekistan can be written or oral, but it is good practice to create a contract written in Uzbek.

Uzbek nationals must provide their employer with a workbook containing their personal details and a record of their past and current work history.

Fixed-term contracts are permitted in certain circumstances.

Annual Leave

Minimum of 15 days' paid holiday per year. 12 days must be taken in one continuous break.

Sick Leave

There is no statutory sick leave entitlement in Uzbekistan.

Parental Leave

• Maternity leave: at least 126 days' fully paid leave.
• Paternity leave: none.
• Parental leave: after maternity leave, parental leave may be taken by the child's main caregiver until the child turns two. This is paid at 20% of their salary.

Termination Process

Termination of employment by the employer is strictly regulated in Uzbekistan. Trade unions often play a role in large enterprises.

Grounds for termination include:

• Mutual consent
• Contract expiry
• Force majeure
• Agreement under the contract terms

Both employees and employers can also terminate the contract under certain specific circumstances.

Severance Pay

Employees are entitled to receive one month’s average monthly wage on the termination date. They will receive the same payment in the second and third month following termination if they haven’t yet started another job, and are registered as a jobseeker.
