Working Hours

Standard hours are between 44 and 48 per week. A standard workday is eight hours, though this differs from industry to industry.

Minimum Wage

The daily minimum wage varies by sector:

• ECD 56 for agricultural workers
• ECD 40 for industrial workers
• ECD 25 for domestic workers

Bonuses

There are no statutory bonus schemes in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Employment contracts should be written, signed, and issued to the employee within seven days of employment. Contracts should include:

• Employer and employee names and addresses
• Job title and responsibilities
• Leave entitlement
• Working hours
• Salary and overtime rates
• Start date

Annual Leave

Domestic workers are entitled to 14 days’ paid holiday after one year of service, rising to 21 days after six years.

Sick Leave

Employees in St Vincent & the Grenadines are entitled to up to 30 days’ sick leave per year after six months of service.

Parental Leave

• Maternity leave: at least four weeks' paid leave after two years of service.
• Paternity leave: none.

Termination Process

Employers can terminate a contract provided they give notice and/or compensation in line with legal requirements. They can also terminate an employee for cause at any time. Acceptable causes include:

• Workplace misconduct
• Criminal activity
• Poor performance
• Lack of capability or qualifications

Employers must give an employee at least two written warnings prior to termination.

Severance pay is based on length of service in St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
