How to get the most out of SHRM24

Heading to SHRM24? Here's our guide to making the most out of your attendance!

Published on

Summer is officially here, and with it comes this year’s SHRM Annual Conference & Expo: the world’s largest HR convention. This year, SHRM is taking place in the Windy City of Chicago – set to welcome 20,000 attendees, both online and in person.

Every year, SHRM draws a diverse range of attendees from all over the world, and provides panel discussions, workshops, prize draws, and more.

This year, the guest speakers in attendance will include:

  • Jason Sudeikis, Emmy-Award-winning actor, writer, and comedian.
  • Sherri Shepherd, Emmy-Award-winning talk-show host.
  • Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., President and CEO of SHRM.
  • Jessica Jenson, CMO of Indeed.
  • LaFawn Davis, Chief People & Sustainability Officer at Indeed.
  • Svenja Gudell, PhD, Chief Economist at Indeed.
  • Janet Gipson, Head of Talent Acquisition at Yale University.

Here at Mauve Group, we’re extremely excited to be attending, and are looking forward to networking with our colleagues in the global HR sector, as well as demonstrating how Mauve Group’s services can support businesses and organizations with their global HR and workforce needs.

SHRM24 sees Mauve Group returning for our 11th year in a row, and with over a decade of SHRM experience under our belts, we’re here to share the knowledge about how to get the most out of your SHRM24 attendance.

Be an early bird

When attending SHRM, there are lots of opportunities to do so in the most economical fashion possible. Registering early will give you access to early bird rates, and, if travelling in person, it’s possible to reserve your hotel room through the official SHRM housing block, thus saving on any transportation costs to and from the event and your hotel.

If you are attending virtually, you will naturally incur no travel costs. However, in-person attendance will help you to increase your networking opportunities, leading to business connections and leads which will ultimately translate into capital earned! So, it may be worth considering the investment on in-person attendance for you and your team.

Network, network, network!

As the largest HR convention in on Earth, SHRM is first and foremost an opportunity for you to connect with your fellow HR professionals. With over 20,000 attendees, including over 600 solution providers showcasing their products and services, you are bound to form key connections and be inspired by your industry peers!

Fostering relationships within the sector not only builds your professional profile and that of your company, but also provides the opportunity to create and connect with new business leads – raising awareness of your service offering throughout the sector, and bringing your organisation to the global stage.

To help you make the most of this supreme networking opportunity, advance networking opportunities are available ahead of time. Register on the website to be ‘matched’ with fellow attendees operating within similar roles and industries! More information on advance networking opportunities can be found here.

Avail of learning opportunities

SHRM will host 375+ educational sessions over four days. These sessions will be led by industry experts, practitioners and thought leaders, and provide invaluable opportunities for you and your team to upskill and learn from HR industry trailblazers.

Complimentary livestreaming of sessions and recordings are available for 30 days after SHRM, so you can share your learnings and insights with colleagues.

You will need to register in advance for many of these sessions, and you can do so here.

For US attendees, 25+ professional development credits are available to earn or to go towards maintaining your SHRM Certification.

If you can’t wait till the conference kicks off (and we don’t blame you!) there are plenty of pre-SHRM virtual learning opportunities available. You can register and pay an additional fee here to avail of these!

Taking part in these educational experiences will personally and professionally benefit you as an individual and can also help to elevate your organisation as you bring your learnings to the workplace. Consider hosting an educational session upon your return to work, sharing your new knowledge and skills with your team.
