How Mauve's payroll experts support global non-profit GSOA

"You feel that you're supported by very capable professionals who provide rapid responses."

Published on

GSOA, a global non-profit association headquartered in Belgium, had been relying on an accountant to manage payroll for its UK-based staff. As the organisation grew, this approach became increasingly complex and time-consuming. This situation placed added pressure on its small internal team. To streamline operations and ensure compliance, GSOA needed to source a dedicated provider to operate its UK payroll.

We're a very small organisation and we had a provider in the UK that was doing our payroll, but we are based in Brussels in Belgium, so it was quite complicated.

The services they were provided were not suited for an international organisation.

GSOA: representing the satellite ecosystem

GSOA is a global non-profit association representing the full satellite ecosystem, uniting members and offering a premier platform for international collaboration.

The organisations leads efforts to address regional and global challenges, champion new opportunities, and provide a unified voice for the satellite industry.

Problems faced

Based in Brussels, Belgium, GSOA needed to secure a new payroll provider in the UK. Engaging a provider outside its home country introduced an additional layer of complexity. The organisation was also looking for a partner which could offer a higher level of service and support than they had previously experienced.

Laws and regulations around payroll and tax differ greatly between countries. If attempting to manage different suppliers across regions, businesses face compliance risks. Non-compliance, even if accidental, can have serious consequences such as fines, legal proceedings, and reputational damage.

Plus, the demands of dealing with an overseas provider, whose service was lacking, was pressurising GSOA’s small team.

[The situation was causing] very high stress levels because I didn’t have any admin support and we were dealing with the payroll of employees and colleagues.

Partnering for success: finding a solution

GSOA partnered with Mauve Group on the recommendation of Telesat, a client of Mauve Group. Mauve Group was able to provide in-country payroll in the UK. This relieved GSOA’s team of the burden of dealing with an unreliable supplier. Partnering with Mauve also means that compliance risk is minimised.

From the very beginning, Mauve Group was a very good support and very helpful. From Mauve’s side, the transition [to using Mauve’s services] was very, very smooth.

Key takeaways

  • Using Mauve Group’s Global Payroll solution, GSOA ensures the timely remuneration of its staff in the UK, via Mauve Group’s in-country solution.
  • Mauve Group ensures all tax and benefits requirements are adhered to, guaranteeing 100% compliance and mitigating risks.
  • Mauve’s people-led customer support ensures clear, consistent communication and human connection, which GSOA appreciates.

What the client says

[With other providers], you can't speak to anybody, everything has to be done via a platform and it's very frustrating. So, it's nice [with Mauve] you’re always speaking to the same person. That, to me, is really critical.

Working with Mauve saves me time for other activities, reduces stress levels, and gives me peace of mind.

It's been a very positive process, very easy. You feel that you're supported by very capable professionals who provide rapid responses. They are very competent with compliance and Steve [Gardiner, Global Payroll Services & Technical Projects Manager], in particular, is always ready to go the extra mile.

If we were to need services in another country, we would not hesitate to use Mauve.
